About the Morgridge College of Education

The Morgridge College of Education (MCE) at the University of Denver is a graduate professional school dedicated to creating positive change by unleashing the power of learning. The college infuses equity across its advanced degrees in curriculum and instruction, counseling psychology, early childhood special education, education leadership and public policy, higher education, research methods and library information science, school counseling, school psychology, and teacher preparation. Position Summary

The Division Lead is a a faculty administrative role and a key academic leader responsible for guiding one of the Morgridge College of Education’s newly formed academic divisions. The Division Lead provides strategic, operational, and academic leadership to support high-quality teaching, research, accreditation, enrollment, and faculty development. This role ensures divisional coherence while preserving the autonomy of individual programs, aligning divisional activities with MCE’s mission, values, and strategic priorities. Division Leads serve as the primary link between program leadership and the Dean’s Office and play a central role in ensuring the sustainability, visibility, and academic excellence of the division. Division Leads will represent the division at college and university-level committees, initiatives, and meetings. They will need to communicate divisional priorities to college leadership and advocate for needs aligned with strategic goals.

The Division Lead reports to the Dean or designee.

Essential Functions

Faculty Responsibilities 

  • Teaching, Research and Service as designated and appropriate for faculty role

Academic Leadership & Division Governance 

  • Provide strategic direction to advance the Division’s academic identity, priorities, and contributions to MCE.
  • Coordinate divisional curriculum planning, scheduling, and academic operations in collaboration with Curriculum Leads/Training
  • Directors and the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.
  • Ensure alignment of divisional programs with accreditation, licensure, and professional standards.
  • Facilitate division meetings, communication, and collaborative decision-making.
  • Promote interdisciplinary engagement throughout the larger unit and cross-division collaboration.

Faculty Development, Mentorship & Evaluation 

  • Conduct annual faculty performance reviews in consultation with the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs.
  • Support faculty advising and mentoring, teaching excellence, research productivity, professional development, and workload equity.
  • Coordinate faculty onboarding and orientations within the division.
  • Provide guidance for faculty navigating promotion, tenure, contract renewal, and sabbatical processes (consistent with existing governance structures).

Enrollment, Budget & Resource Management 

  • Partner with Enrollment and Marketing to strengthen recruitment, yield, and program growth.
  • Manage the division budget, ensuring transparent and strategic use of resources.
  • Oversee adjunct hiring, onboarding, and placement, ensuring instructional quality and alignment with divisional needs.

Student Support & Academic Quality

  • Support program-level student advising, progression, and remediation processes.
  • Assist Program Leads and Associate Deans with student concerns, escalations, and community partnerships.
  • Ensure high-quality field, practicum, and internship experiences (in partnership with Field/Practicum Directors).
  • Strengthen the overall student experience through inclusive, evidence-informed, and student-centered practices.

Accreditation, Assessment & Compliance

  • Support accreditation and licensing requirements relevant to programs in the Division.
  • Partner with the Accreditation & Assessment Director/Executive Assistant for Accreditation (or the designee) to ensure timely reporting, continuous improvement, and program evaluation.
  • Maintain high standards of data integrity, learning assessment, and program documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Terminal degree in a field represented within the division.
  • Rank of Associate Professor or Professor (tenured, or clinical series as defined by MCE governance).
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching, research/scholarship, and service.
  • Prior leadership experience (e.g., Program Lead, Training Director, Coordinator, Committee Chair).
  • Earned doctorate from an accredited university in a discipline (or closely related field) offered through MCE.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member in a diverse, collaborative, and collegial environment with faculty, staff, students, and administrators.
  • Demonstrated performance in making sound, independent judgements.
  • Strong process management skills, analytical abilities, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent computer skills, including complete familiarity with MS Office suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience overseeing accreditation processes (e.g., CACREP, NASP, APA, ELPS leadership standards, ALA).
  • Evidence of successful collaboration across programs or units.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, social justice, inclusive leadership, and whole-person development.
  • Experience mentoring faculty and supporting research development or grant activity.

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment.
  • Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

  • Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus.

Work Schedule Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Salary Grade Number: The salary grade for the position is UC.

Compensation

Stipend of $15,000.
