About the role

HCR Permanent Search is working with a world class manufacturing company in Vaughan who has asked for us to assist them to find a Senior Buyer to drive sourcing initiatives, manage vendor relationships, optimize costs, and oversee production procurement within a high-velocity automotive manufacturing setting.

Position Summary: In this role, the Buyer will manage the end-to-end procurement of raw materials, capital equipment, tooling, and operational supplies. You will play a key part in navigating supplier negotiations, aligning inventory with production schedules, executing cost-reduction strategies, and ensuring manufacturing continuity.

Work Setting: On Site Shift Schedule: Days Location Details: Vaughan, Ontario

Responsibilities: Source and purchase assigned automotive production items, commodities, and equipment. Negotiate supplier contracts, pricing, and commercial terms. Issue purchase orders and amendments. Communicate with suppliers to support cost, delivery, and quality objectives. Maintain inventory levels to support production requirements. Support cost savings, productivity rebates, and supplier claims. Participate in APQP / PPAP meetings and maintain purchasing tracking updates. Research and support global sourcing opportunities. Ensure compliance with internal purchasing procedures, IATF 16949, and ISO 14001 requirements.

Qualifications: Post-secondary education or equivalent experience. Minimum 5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment. Automotive purchasing experience is highly preferred. Experience buying production materials, commodities, or capital equipment. Strong ERP experience; SAP or equivalent enterprise systems preferred. Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel to suppliers as needed. Understanding of basic accounting principles and the ability to review supplier financial information. Strong computer, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work under tight timelines with minimal supervision. Assets: Professional supply chain certification (e.g., CSCP, CPIM, CPSM, SCMP) or working toward designation. Experience with scheduling, inventory control, engineering drawings, and specifications. Knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 14001, or related automotive industry standards. Technical background in quality, process, engineering, or program management.
