The Grain Buyer is responsible for executing grain procurement and coordination activities in support of ethanol production. The role ensures a consistent and cost-effective feedstock supply through pricing analysis, regulatory compliance, and alignment with production planning and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Execute grain purchasing activities, including pricing, contracting, and supply coordination
Maintain grain and DDGS pricing data aligned with marketing and finance inputs
Coordinate feedstock supply plans with production planning and operations teams
Support procurement strategy development and long-range planning initiatives
Complete and submit required regulatory reporting and renewals (e.g., Clean Fuel Regulations, Canadian Grains Commission)
Act as the primary site contact for grain vendors and internal stakeholders
Support daily grain marketing and procurement activities
Align feedstock availability with production targets in collaboration with operations
Accountabilities
Ensure sufficient and timely grain supply to meet production requirements
Maintain accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of pricing calculations and reporting
Align procurement activities with operational and financial objectives
Adhere to Cenovus policies, standards, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
Required
Legally entitled to work in Canada
Degree or diploma in business, economics, agriculture, or related discipline, or equivalent experience
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
Proven ability to manage competing priorities in an operational environment
Preferred
Knowledge of grain marketing, commodity markets, or agricultural operations
Experience with pricing analysis and market-based purchasing
Familiarity with regulatory reporting in agriculture or energy sectors
