Job Description
Role: Junior Buyer
Job Summary: As a Junior Buyer , you will be a valuable and key member of our Roofmart team. This position is responsible for but not limited to preparing inventory purchase orders, reviewing, and approving branch purchase orders and carrying out other duties as assigned. This position will require team development and training and will require occasional travel. Remote work is not available for this position.

Job Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain relationship with vendors and aggressively and strategically negotiate pricing programs
- Leverage buying power for better pricing regionally and nationally
- Control and verification of item pricing
- Recommend pricing changes and analyze usages and pricing trends
- Train and coach Branches on how to manage and control inventory
- Determine products to be stocked and recommend stock levels
- Assist Sales and Operations day to day
- Work with Branches to establish PORG (Purchase Order Requirements / Generation)
- Confirm and verify product costs in system
- Approve Branch Purchase Orders
- Place Purchase Orders for large fixed asset
- Pricing level adjustments within defined rules
- Consulting/sourcing on special order products
- Place Requisition Purchase Orders for Head Office
- Inventory forecasting, winter buying, bulk buys
- Return to vendor products
- Obtains special event sponsorship from vendors
- Analyze Slow Moving Inventory and Usage Reports
- Review Stockable and Sellable Reports
- Liaison with all departments in the business
- Safeguard inventory levels and pricing and alert management daily of potential issues
- Maintain and update Sales Force and Connect for vendor accounts
- Negotiate payment terms with vendors
- Negotiate rebate and marketing dollars
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Excel, Outlook, Word, and Windows Applications
- Post-Secondary Education in Procurement or Supply Chain Management or related field
- 2-4 years purchasing experience
- A great standard of numeracy to analyze facts and figures
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to negotiate, establish, and process contracts.
- Authorized to work in Canada
