Job Description – Commodity Manager (Egg Farmers of PEI)

Position Summary: The PEIFA Commodity Manager will be responsible for providing general management to the Egg Farmers of PEI (EFPEI) as part of the PEIFA team. The Egg Farmers of PEI provides a critical role in supporting farmers producing a supply managed commodity. The successful candidate will lead the administration of the EFPEI, ensuring good financial management, regulatory compliance, competitive analysis, effective marketing, and maintaining the operations of the organization. This role includes regular travel to Ottawa for national meetings and requires a high attention to detail and strong ability to use technology to manage financial information and production data.

Duties: · Regularly attend in person and virtual meetings for provincial and regional organizations, representing commodity group interests. · Travel for national commodity meetings 6-8 times per year. · Book flights and hotel accommodations for out of province travel. · Prepare materials for commodity board meetings including financial reports, progress reports, and meeting agendas and minutes · Prepare materials for the annual general meeting including organization’s annual report · Manage organization finances including preparing annual budget, approving expenses, completing account reconciliation, accounts payable and receivable, and overseeing the preparation of annual financial statements · Manage payments to and from producers including levies collected and subsidies paid out · Collect and report time-sensitive data to/from multiple sources including local, regional, and national regulators and industry stakeholders · Maintain regular communications between producers and stakeholders including all regular communication channels (phone, e-mail, written) · Manage formal communications between producers and regulators dealing with changes to regulations, updates to producer policies, and adjustments to financial payments · Develop and implement marketing initiatives in consultation with Board and marketing staff

Preferred Skills & Experience: · University degree in business accounting, administration, economics, or related field · Experience in financial management · Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office · Strong mathematical and analytical skills · Strong verbal and written communication skills · Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments simultaneously including deadlines · Excellent planning and priority management skills · Exceptional attention to detail with an emphasis on editing and proof reading · Experience in a regulated or agricultural policy environment · Demonstrated understanding of policy development and implementation · Egg industry knowledge · Valid driver’s license · Willing and able to work in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island
