What does a Buyer do?
The top priorities regarding this position will be to provide on time delivery for customers, reduce inventory levels, monitor vendor performance, and make improvements. Due to the nature of this position a customer-focused person that is determined and dedicated to accuracy would be best suited. Performance will be measured by revenue reports and KPIs. Opportunities for advancement and growth could be in Sr. Buyer, Supply Chain or Planning Manager position.
· Sourcing and procuring components and raw materials based on MRP report · Outsourcing over capacity items · Outsourcing services · Manage vendor performance – On time and non-conformances · Review vendor pricing and adapt ways to reduce cost · Follow-up on shortages, finding alternatives, and communicate with production and assembly line · Maintain inventory level control · Resolve issues related to receiving and quality · Work with marketing, engineering and production personnel and maintain continuous supply of material · Create and track summary reports for all vendor issues · Identify areas of opportunity for efficiency and cost reduction · Implement actions for continuous improvement · Ensure compliance to company purchasing policies and procedures · Other related duties as assigned
What do you bring to the table · 4-5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment · Ability to read Engineering Drawings and Specifications · Experienced in procuring raw material, electronic components, and MRO · Experienced in vendor performance management and negotiations · Sourcing experience · Proficient in Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet · Result oriented with ability to deliver against deadlines · Proven problem-solving skills · Accuracy and attention to details · Self-motivated, work well under pressure in a fast-paced and challenging environment · Data Analysis · Certification in Supply Chain Management (preferred) · Inventory Management certification (preferred)
Salary is commensurate with experience and in the range of $60k - $75k
