Role Description The Marine Training and Compliance Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in Kingston, ON. This position is responsible for developing, delivering, and updating marine training programs for ferry and marine operations staff, ensuring alignment with applicable legislation, regulations, and ministry policies. The role includes monitoring operational practices for compliance with safety standards, conducting audits and inspections, and recommending improvements to procedures and documentation. The Officer prepares training materials, maintains training records, coordinates certification and recertification activities, and supports incident reviews and corrective action plans. Collaboration with operational teams, management, and external regulatory bodies is expected to promote safe, efficient, and compliant marine services. Qualifications Marine operations and safety expertise, including knowledge of marine regulations, navigational practices, and ferry or vessel operations. Training and instructional skills, such as experience designing curricula, delivering training sessions, and evaluating learning outcomes. Compliance and audit capabilities, including conducting inspections, interpreting regulatory requirements, and preparing reports and recommendations. Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse teams, convey complex information clearly, and support a positive safety culture. Organizational and documentation skills, including maintaining accurate training records, scheduling activities, and managing multiple priorities. Relevant marine or transportation certifications and licenses (e.g., Transport Canada certifications) are an asset. Post-secondary education in marine studies, transportation, safety management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and non-discriminatory practices in training and workplace interactions.
