Position Overview:

We are seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and creative Fundraising & Communications Assistant to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships, telling inspiring stories, and supporting programs that positively impact the lives of individuals and families in our community.

In this dynamic role, you will work closely with staff, volunteers, donors, community partners, and stakeholders to help increase public awareness of our mission, strengthen community connections, and support fundraising efforts that allow our programs and services to thrive.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with community members, partner organizations, businesses, and stakeholders
  • Support the development and implementation of community engagement initiatives that promote the organization's mission and programs
  • Represent the organization at community events, meetings, networking opportunities, and information sessions
  • Assist in recruiting, coordinating, and recognizing volunteers
  • Assist with the planning, coordination, and implementation of fundraising campaigns, events, and donor stewardship activities
  • Support donor communications, acknowledgements, and recognition initiatives
  • Maintain accurate donor and supporter records in fundraising databases
  • Assist with sponsorship outreach and relationship management
  • Support grant research and the preparation of funding applications and reports
  • Track and report on fundraising activities and outcomes
  • Create, schedule, and publish engaging content across social media platforms
  • Help promote organizational programs, events, success stories, and fundraising campaigns
  • Monitor social media engagement and respond to inquiries as appropriate
  • Assist with the development of newsletters, annual reports, promotional materials, and website content
  • Gather stories, testimonials, photos, and impact data to showcase the organization's community impact
  • Support the planning and execution of community events, fundraising activities, and public engagement initiatives
  • Coordinate event logistics, registrations, volunteers, materials, and communications
  • Assist with post-event evaluation and reporting
  • Maintain accurate records, contact databases, and communication materials
  • Track engagement metrics and prepare reports for management and funders
  • Assist with general administrative duties related to communications, fundraising, and community engagement activities
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements: 

Education and Experience

  • Post secondary education in non-profit management, marketing, communications, public relations, social work or related field 
  • One to three years’ experience in a community engagement, fundraising, communications, volunteer coordination, or related positions 
  • Experience working in a non-profit, charitable, or community-based organization is considered an asset

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong commitment to the mission, vision, and values of the organization
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and relation-building abilities
  • Experience managing social media platforms and creating digital content
  • Strong organizatio1nal, planning, and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining records and preparing communications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and donor or client management databases
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Must be proactive and self-motivated. 
  • Must be organized with exceptional attention to detail and strong time management skills
  • Must have a valid Class 5F Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check, all done within the last 3 months

Working Conditions:

  • Some evening and weekend work may be required to support community events, fundraisers, and volunteer activities.
  • Occasional travel both within city limits and potentially up to approximately 200 km outside of Winnipeg

Pulford Community Living Services Inc., a not-for-profit community based organization, was established in November 1986 in response to the closing of a guest home that threatened to leave several people homeless. On December 1, 1986, three people moved from the guest home into their own home on Fleet Avenue, assisted by Pulford.

Since 1986, Pulford has continuously provided housing and supports to persons with a developmental disability. The supports provided by P.C.L.S. Inc. and its employees are intended to encourage and facilitate, to the greatest possible extent, the individual's ability to live and grow in ways that the individual sees fit.
