Logistics Assistant - Mailroom & Distribution (Job ID: 3014)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Able to receive mail, parcels, goods and courier packages for the hospital and satellite locations.
  • Able to sort and organize incoming, inter-department, and external mail, parcels, goods and courier packages for delivery within the hospital and satellite locations.
  • Able to sort and organize Return to Sender mail, parcels and packages for redirection to other destinations.
  • Able to use online requisition software to set up pick-ups/delivery work orders for external couriers.
  • Able to prepare weigh bills for courier packages for sending out to external destinations.
  • Able to operate the postage mailing machine in the mailroom.
  • Able to pick up instruments and other supplies from satellite locations to hospital destinations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful completion of a secondary school diploma required.
  • Successful completion of a post-secondary community college program in a related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated oral, written and English language reading skills required in order to effectively communicate and/or respond to patient, visitor, or staff inquiries as required.
  • Able to use telephone equipment, fax machine, hand held computer and computerized mail meter system.
  • Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) are required.
  • Well-developed organizational skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment and prioritize tasks appropriately.
  • Excellent customer service record with proven success in working in a team environment.
  • Proficient in the current ADT software system, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word 2010, Intranet and Internet.
  • Able to demonstrate trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Proven commitment to Mission and Values of the organization.
  • Excellent attendance record.
  • High energy and able to multitask.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to walk for 2 hours and push a cart weighing 15 kg.
  • Ability to stand for up to 60 minute intervals to sort mail or operate the postage machine.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

HOURS:

  • Must be able to work rotational days, evenings, nights and weekends as required. Shifts are subject to change based on departmental needs.
