We are currently seeking an outstanding Administrative Assistant reporting directly to the Officer in Charge of the RCMP detachment. The ideal candidate will excel in a fast-paced administrative environment, where confidentiality is of the utmost importance. This is an amazing opportunity to exercise initiative and independent judgement, while handling a variety of projects and tasks involving highly sensitive issues.

The incumbent provides secretarial and administrative support to the OIC, Detachment Management Team and Professional Responsibility Unit on a wide variety of projects and workflow functions involving highly sensitive and confidential issues. Responsibilities include typing and processing confidential documents; directing phone calls and inquiries; making meeting and travel arrangements; maintaining administrative records; compiling background information and supporting documents to assist in decision making and meeting facilitation; taking and processing meeting minutes as required, communicating with internal and external contacts to provide direction, and assisting with the coordination of Detachment ceremonies and events. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include completion of Grade 12, plus completion of a Business Technology Certificate or recognized Secretarial Program and a minimum of four years recent related experience, preferably in an RCMP Detachment. Sound working knowledge of the rules, regulations, policies and procedures governing the operations of the RCMP. Excellent proficiency in typing and computer applications such as word processing, database management, spreadsheets and electronic communication is required and knowledge of TEAM is considered an asset. Great ability to multi-task, prioritize and communicate with all levels of RCMP and staff and handle confidential information in a professional and tactful manner. The incumbent will be required to obtain and maintain an RCMP Top Secret Security Clearance. A Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is required for this position.
