Join ATCO Electric as a System Operations Scheduler, where you'll play a pivotal role in maintaining the operational integrity and safety of the Alberta Interconnected Electrical System (AIES). This role focuses on the meticulous scheduling and coordination of outages across ATCO Electric's distribution, transmission, generation, and related systems, ensuring seamless operations and minimal disruption.

What You Get to Do:

  • Coordinate and schedule planned maintenance, leveraging opportunities for combined outages to optimize system reliability and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external entities like the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO), ensuring clear communication of maintenance schedules, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies. Develop and communicate comprehensive risk mitigation plans for scheduled outages.
  • Maintain up-to-date substation documentation and operating procedures, ensuring System Operations Center (SOC) Operators have the necessary information for efficient system operations. Manage the Control Room Operating Window (CROW) software, ensuring user access and interface functionality.
  • Participate in investigations related to switching incidents, offering insights and recommendations to enhance operational safety and compliance.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal and external operational practices and procedures.
  • Engage in committee work and project teams, representing System Operations Scheduling with a focus on collaborative problem-solving and strategic planning.

What You Bring:

  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification as a Journeyman Powerline Technician, Power Systems Electrician, Industrial Electrician, or a Technology Diploma related to the electrical field from a recognized institute of technology.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in system operations.
  • Knowledge of AESO policies, NERC Standards, and a comprehensive understanding of electrical systems and switching procedures.
