We are seeking top-tier talent to join our Maintenance and Turnaround division and build innovative projects in the oil, gas, petrochemical, renewable energy, power, mining, forestry, underground, heavy construction, maintenance, turnarounds and sustaining capital sectors. About The Role

Reporting to the Turnaround Manager, the Scheduler is responsible for establishing project schedules for medium to high complexity projects with oversight from the Business Manager, maintaining project schedules of any complexity level, preparing 3-week look-aheads, developing schedule performance reports and delay analyses of time impacts of intermediate complexity, and providing assistance with project budgeting, change management, and cash flows. This will be based out of our Nova Chemicals Joffre Plant project site.

As a Scheduler at Graham, you will:

● Prepare the project master schedule for medium to high complexity projects in accordance with the contract requirements and company best practices using the Critical Path Method with occasional guidance from the Business Manager.

● Understand contract obligations as they relate to the project schedule and project milestones, and define the drivers and interfaces with third parties that may affect such milestones.

● Work with the client (or client scheduling consultants) to approve and establish a project baseline schedule that reflects the project duration and project milestones as defined in the contract documents.

● Prepare schedule updates, including cash flow updates, as per GMS guidelines, and implement the schedule update process when working remotely on a project.

● Carry out schedule revisions when required.

● Perform review and integration of risk registers and labour productivities.

● Report schedule performance in the form of a regularly published Schedule Performance Report that contains progress dashboards, Earned Value Analysis / Schedule Performance Index, S-curves, Heatmaps, Milestone Trend Analysis, Variance Analysis, and areas of concern.

● Identify and communicate areas of risk and opportunity as it relates to the project schedule and participate in response planning.

● Propose corrective actions relating to production and lead discussions on such corrective actions, schedule mitigation measures, and resequencing with the project team.

● Identify and communicate critical path and near critical path activities.

● Identify risks and review with the site team to identify if the risk is acceptable or if corrective action needs to be taken, and provide the project team with what-if scenarios to assess the effectiveness of proposed corrective actions.

● Review schedules prepared by non-schedulers to identify quality issues and risks and assist in defining optimum risk response plan to complete the project on time.

● Liaise with subtrades and field superintendents for input into the project schedule and look-aheads.

● Understand the basic principles of different methodologies of delay analysis in the industry, and work with external delay experts to provide support for extension of time claims.

● Track and report on schedule float.

● Work with M/E experts and subtrade partners to develop commissioning schedules for projects of intermediate complexity, where applicable.

● Determine and document the interfaces (inputs and outputs) between design, procurement, construction, and permitting.

● Participate in project schedule management planning (execution plan).

● Assist management by ensuring all GMS process is followed and recommend improvements when recognized.

● Understand and assist in the development of execution plans from a time and resourcing perspective.

● Assist estimating team in completing field installation work packages; inclusive, of work area layouts, sequence diagrams, and design-procurement matrix(s)

● Help monitor the cash flow and identify when deviation from project schedule and cash flow would require mitigation to get the project back on track.

● Assist the project team to identify tasks with low productivity that incur higher costs than budgeted.

● Interact daily with the Project team

● Interact weekly with subtrades and suppliers.

● Participate in meetings with the design consultant and owner on a as required

● Interact with the owner scheduling consultant on a regular basis.

● Demonstrate and incorporate best HSE and Quality practices that reflect corporate expectations of Actively Caring and Road to Zero.

● Work in collaboration with estimating to translate bid information into programs, and field installation tools for handover to construction

Qualifications/Experience:

● Equivalent to completion of a diploma training program at a college or technical school; degree in Engineering or Construction Management is preferred.

● 5+ years of Industrial Planning / Scheduling experience

● PMP, PMI-SP, PSP, EIT, P.Eng., CCDA, and/or CET (Certified Engineering Technologist) designation is an asset.

● Experience working on at least one project from initiation to closeout.

● Planning / Scheduling experience in a variety of delivery methods (EPC, Design-Build, CM, PPP, etc.).

● Good understanding of and exposure to different delay analysis techniques.

● Direct exposure to the construction industry is required.

● General Contractor experience is required.

● Experience using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Office Suite is required. Experience with SAP and Maxivera considered an asset.

● Proficiency in excel is required

● Experience with model integration and 4D scheduling is an asset.

● Ability to learn project-specific software as required.

● Ability to communicate effectively.
