Job Description Salary $26.889 - $29.130 Schedule Monday - Friday Shift 8 hours This is a full-time contract expected to end after 12 months As a member of the Finance team, the Accomodations Clerk will be responsible for a variety of financial and clerical functions, depending on hours worked. Specific duties include: collecting signatures for preferred accommodations, processing infant health cards, chronic billings and preparing and following up on insurance claims and rejections. The Finance department is a team environment and the preferred accommodations representatives are expected to assist with other financial tasks within the billing environment. Meet admitted patients, family or designates in ED and in patient rooms, to discuss preferred accommodation: Review preferred accommodation and document any interest. Collect accurate financial information, such secondary insurance coverage/non-OHIP documents when required. Document any secondary insurance information as required, including in the electronic health record. Liaison with team to support appropriate bed placement. Send completed signed preferred accommodation forms to finance. Communicate pertinent information to members of the team. Run report to determine patients that require discussion about preferred accommodation. Liaison with other hospital departments as required. Escalate insurance billing issues to finance for follow up and resolution documentation in Cerner. Track and report accommodation activity, address billing discrepancies with finance. Share information regarding preferred accommodations with units, CNs, to optimize revenue Re-arrangement of beds for appropriate gender with available beds Determine patients’ eligibility for transfers. Interview patients for legitimate coverage before moving to the requested bed. Posted hours do not constitute a guarantee that shifts will not be subject to change. Skills and Qualifications: Post secondary degree/diploma 3 years experience in accounts receivable/accounting Excellent computer skills, including working knowledge of Excel Experience with hospital billing and accounts receivable computer modules is required with preference given to Meditech, Oracle Health The ability to work independently Requires attention to detail Excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills Strong interpersonal and communication skills (must be comfortable interacting with patients) Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis is required Posted hours do not constitute a guarantee that shifts will not be subject to change.
