Job summary
Summary JOB DESCRIPTION The Utility Clerk is responsible for accurate and timely entry, validation, and processing of utility accounts payable transactions. This role ensures compliance with established procedures and supports payment reconciliation and documentation management. Key Duties & Responsibilities Accounts Payable Transactions Enter utility accounts payable transactions into accounting systems. Documentation Collection and Validation Handle scanned documentation and capture missing invoice data. Validate accounts payable documentation against supporting documents for accuracy and completeness. Review documents for compliance and completeness; identify and resolve non-compliant items and missing information. Safeguard payment documents and ensure proper payment authorization. Invoice Review Cancel and reject invoices to suppliers that do not meet requirements. Verify mathematical accuracy of invoices and resolve errors with concerned parties. Coding Ensure appropriate accounting codes are applied according to business unit and expense/cost element type. Payments Process accounts payable payments in accordance with established processes. Approval Collection Liaise with business unit leaders to obtain approval for invoices and payments. Audit Support File, maintain, and retrieve documentation for audit support. Knowledge & Skills Community college diploma preferably in accounting or equivalent experience. Experience in clerical accounting/accounts payable work. Ability to process high volumes of data with strong attention to detail and accuracy. Proficient in basic mathematical calculations and identifying inaccuracies. Effective communication skills for data exchange and clarification. Proficient with accounting systems and MS Office applications. Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation None required This is a regular, full-time position with a salary range of $44,303 - $52,121 per annum. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate’s competencies, including but not limited to experience, education and performance related to this role.
