Job Summary and Requirements

The Administrative Assistant Candidate Registry is an on-going posting to pre-certify candidates into AR06-AR10 classification levels. Departments across government use the candidate registry to fill vacant Permanent, Term, Auxiliary-On Call, and Casual positions across all Yukon communities. Only successful pre-certified candidates can apply on positions when posted.

How to become pre-certified:

1. Submit your resume - Review the essential qualifications below prior to applying.

2. Written assessment - Screened-in applicants participate in a written assessment that consists of: Grammar and Spelling, Microsoft Word, and Excel. Applicants that live in Yukon communities are able to use computers and space at the public library or check with an employment centre.

3. MS Teams interview - Applicants that live in Yukon communities can use computers and space at the public library or check with an employment centre.

After pre-certification:

Pre-certified candidates are emailed through the E-recruitment system when job postings become available at their level and lower. At that time pre-certified candidates need to tailor their resume to demonstrate their experience for the posted position if they are interested in applying.

Positions staffed through the candidate registry may include:

  • Administrative Assistant
  • Financial Assistant
  • School Receptionist
  • Scheduling Clerk
  • Financial Administrative Assistant
  • Office Administrator
  • Senior Administrative Assistant
  • Program support services

Salary range (per annum) for each level is:

AR06: $61,723 - $71,319

AR07: $63,710 - $73,642

AR08: $66,027 - $76,354

AR09: $68,518 - $79,255

AR10: $71,322 - $82,549

Essential Qualifications:
Please note selection for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume. Include the month and year you started and ended a job and include the duties associated with each position when you list your work experience. This allows us to accurately calculate the length of time you were in the position.

To be considered for this candidate registry, you will ideally have:

  • Completion of coursework in office administration, business administration or a related field
  • Recent experience providing administrative and/or reception support as well as word processing and formatting documents, scheduling meetings, coordinating travel, maintaining confidentiality, maintaining paper and electronic filing and records systems etc.
  • Recent experience providing client service in a busy environment

Senior Administrative roles in addition to the above, the following experience are assessed:

  • Recent experience providing administrative support to senior-level management such as letter writing, editing documents, briefing notes, taking minutes, coordinating travel, managing calendars, managing contracts, etc.
  • Recent experience performing accounting and/or financial functions including accounts payable and receivable such as invoices, journal vouchers, reconciliations, and cheque requisitions, managing budgets etc. is an asset.

Candidates with an equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered equally.
