Specific Job Description

Reporting to the Documentation Engineering Manager, this position will be responsible for supervising personnel and all processes related to capturing requirements, monitoring development and delivery of S1000D publications, and assessing effectiveness and quality of products.

  • Responsible for the assigned team meeting quality, cost and schedule requirements for assigned projects
  • Efficiently allocating resources to meet product delivery
  • Assigning work to each employee according to their specialization and knowledge of the required tools while providing best value to customer requirements
  • Responsible for promoting a team atmosphere focused on innovation, customer satisfaction and efficient work effort
  • Communicating to upper management goals, objectives, metrics and estimates of new work for approval
  • Ability to communicate with a cross functional team including Integrated Logistics Support, Training, Engineering Subject Matter Experts, Engineering Application Management and the Customer
  • Monitoring demand from customers and programs and ensuring staffing is adequate for anticipated work
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Required skills, qualifications and experience

  • Must have intimate knowledge of the S1000D International Specification for Technical Publications
  • Must have experience in S1000D Authoring including business rules and management of large technical publication projects
  • Must have experience in creation of S1000D Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (IETPs)
  • Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian government security clearances
  • Strong verbal communication, writing and presentation skills
  • Experience in team driven process improvement methodologies

Desired skills, qualifications and experience

  • Experience in the defence industry
  • Familiar with HiCo Content Suite and X-Browser Pro, or other S1000D CSDB Publishing Suite
  • Solid foundation in S1000D issues 4.1 and 5.0
