Purpose of Job:

The Senior Manager will assist the Director in leading the development and implementation of an enterprise risk taxonomy and redesign of the existing Assessment of Risks document in support of the Bank’s ICAAP process. The role has responsibility for maintaining a single library to house all of the Bank’s Frameworks and Policies, while ensuring the department’s business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the Bank-wide roll-out of the updated Policy Management Standard and Framework Management Standard, including providing support on subsidiary governance for Frameworks and Policies.
  • Become a Subject Matter Expert for framework and policy development to ensure consistency in content and form with PMS and FMS across the Bank
  • Assist in leading the development and implementation of an enterprise risk taxonomy to improve consistency and management of risks at the Bank
  • Assist in refurbishing and streamlining the existing Assessment of Risks document in support of the Bank’s ICAAP process, including leading the annual refresh of the Bank’s Principal Risks.
  • Establish communication and reporting standards for approvals, formats and adoption of enterprise-wide policies and frameworks
  • Develop consistent governance processes and best practices to optimize design, oversight, version control and dissemination, approval, administration and reporting of enterprise-wide policies and frameworks
  • Supporting the communication and understanding of the Significant Adverse Events (SAEs) Standard and maintain the SAE Inventory Tool and associated monitoring and reporting of SAEs
  • Coordinate the development, ongoing review, authorization, and dissemination of the Enterprise-Wide Risk Management Framework
  • Reviews and provides guidance and input into Policies and Frameworks, as needed
  • Carry out special projects or investigations relating to enterprise risk or other relevant topics/areas as requested by the Director and/or senior management
  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook, and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
  • Make recommendations to senior leaders on enterprise risk strategic initiatives, based on an in-depth understanding of the risk landscape at the Bank

Job Requirements:

  1. Good understanding of risk frameworks, risk management, Bank’s operations, and financial sector risks
  2. Strong strategic thinking, analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
  3. Excellent communication skills with ability to write clearly and concisely
  4. Strong prioritization skills, with the ability to solve complex problems
  5. Able to work independently, manage ambiguity, and be highly collaborative on in-depth tasks
  6. Project management and leadership skills an asset
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint, Power BI, would be an asset
  8. Spanish and/or French language fluency would be useful, but not required​​​​​​​
  9. University degree is required
  10. Professional accounting designation (CPA), CFA, or MBA a plus
