Canam currently has an opportunity for a Manufacturing Support Administrator in our Mississauga steel joist and deck facility.


Provide administrative support to manufacturing operations personnel. Enter data into production databases. Generate various reports related to plant Lean manufacturing initiatives, maintenance, health and safety, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Re-stock reports and forms in locations throughout plant, update, gather and file various plant reports.

Essential functions:

  • Aptitude to ensure compliance with safe work practices and health and safety policies and procedures;
  • Assist in scheduling production planning by line;
  • Prepare tags and labels per shift per line and distribute to the lines with other necessary paperwork;
  • Record and/or file various documents such as machinery pre-use inspections, health and safety training materials, and updated policies and procedures;
  • Copy and update Safety Data Sheet binders throughout plant as needed;
  • Prepare materials for job orientation, work instruction and/or training, Lean training and work procedures;
  • Source missing or incomplete information from appropriate personnel to complete data entry. Use knowledge of machinery/parts/processes to question information that seems incorrect or incomplete;
  • Post reports on various dashboards throughout facility;
  • Update work schedules in Excel to facilitate production work scheduling;
  • Record plant non-conformities and material substitution;
  • Assist operations personnel in scheduling and facilitating meetings, events, and training activities;
  • May provide relief services in other departments such as deck coordination, tool crib;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Promote and demonstrate constant safe behaviour;
  • Post-secondary education in a related field;
  • Two (2) years’ related experience in a manufacturing environment;
  • Advanced computer skills in Google Suite, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
  • Attention to accuracy and detail;
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and maintenance terminology;
  • Ability to adapt and learn Lean manufacturing principles;
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to prioritize and plan tasks to meet deadlines;
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Strong organizational skills.
